Lisbee Stainton - 'Never Quite an Angel' (Marionet Music) ***

'The twenty-one year old singer songwriter is slowly working her way towards ultimate
success after being discovered on her MySpace page. The new single from her debut
album is quite melancholic, slow and subtle, but has all the ingredients and the
climax of a song to watch out for. Certainly one to hear again.'

"Here is an amazing new talent who has already had recognition from BBC Radio 2 and so she is on the right road to success. She’s only 21 and so has got yonks of time to enjoy any deserved success.

She has a voice that has to be heard and songs of a mark that will get her there – oh and what a guitar style too.  The guy that deserves a big slap on the back for bringing Stainton to the fore is BB6 Music DJ and musician in his own right, Tom Robinson. He heard her debut single, Red (opening track on this album), and was caught in her headlights. She could become the ultimate UK singer/songwriter talent of the past ten years. Her songs have a certain majesty and youthful freshness with injections of pop, roots and rock too. Fresh as a daisy in summer, Lisbee Stainton will be a big hit with a cross over audience and this album is a stunner!" MH

'Get Ready to Rock'

"When Lisbee launched her career 18 months ago she became the first unsigned singer songwriter to play London's O2 arena, playing to 30,000.

But it was when BBC6 DJ Tom Robinson chanced upon the track 'Red' on Lisbee's myspace page that things really started moving. Robinson championed the track, leading to it being released as a debut single and playlisted by Radio 2 at the beginning of 2009.

It's fitting, therefore that 'Red' opens 21 year old Lisbee's debut album Girl On An Unmade Bed. And it does open it in some style - a Kate Bush 'Army Dreamers' style number but delivered on Lisbee's 8 string acoustic, with some lovely cello and strings accompaniment.

The title track follows, another typically 'English' singer song writer number not untypical of the more acoustic output of Sam Brown. It's another stunner.

What follows though, is more contemporary and 'mainstream' - radio friendly soft pop that glides seamlessly from pleasant on the ear pop balladry (Is Whispering), through soft rock of the likes of AloneMe / The Floe (Waiting Game), to almost Kate Nash territory (Harriet).

As a package it's a superb debut from a promising British talent. Something of a grower, and if you're quick you can download it from the young lady's website lisbeestainton.com for only £1.

Now if that's not the best musical purchase you'll make this year, I'll be damned. Check it out, great songs, lovely playing and vocals, and the distinct possibility that this girl will follow in the footsteps of some the best female singer songwriters these shores have produced... "

"The hottest new female pop folk singer launches her debut album. Already with Radio 2 record of the weeks for the recent single this is much anticipated. Major new star in the making."
